Prints well but needs to be attached to a sturdier piece of paper to run through the machine, had a dumb brain moment and learned this the hard way.I use this paper for gel printing and collaging. It’s very absorbent and makes the colors look beautifulAs a whole this is not bad paper, especially for the price. The biggest thing one should be aware of is that this paper is extremely delicate. While this is not too much of an issue for dry mediums such as charcoal, chalk pastels, and such, one must be careful in using liquid mediums. This does work for sumi ink but one must exercise caution so as not to bog down the paper with too much, as this will warp the paper and increase the likelihood that it will tear.On a personal note, I originally bought this paper to practice suminagashi with since it was a recommended product on the boku-undo I am learning Chinese Brush Painting after doing watercolors for several years, and I purchased this for practice paper. It is not quite as thick as my 'better' rice paper, (it feels about the same weight as tracing paper and is semi-translucent), but it does have a similar appearance and absorbancy as the heavier and more expensive paper. As a result, it reacts to the water, paint, and ink in a similar manner, so it is a very good surface for practice. At this price I have no hesitation about using the paper or worries about making mistakes or wasting a sheet, so I can relax and practice my brush strokes or color loading and see what the results would look like in a finished painting. When it dries, this paper does wrinkle and 'draw up' a bit more than the heavier paper, but again, for practice work this isn't a problem. I haven't tried to mount any of this paper to see if that would reduce the wrinkling and make a decent finished product, but as my skills improve, I might play around with the mounting process just to see what happens. This product meets my needs very well, so I would definitely recommend it as a practice paper for anyone learning Sumi-e or Chinese Brush Painting.I purchased this paper for use in making Japanese lantern shoji panels. For this purpose, it worked pretty well for me. The thickness is such that it lets through plenty of light, but it a little bit more fragile that i would have liked. Given that more thickness likely means less light, I value more light for my particular application of this product. This product is Not really good for Chinese Brush Painting. I have work with a variety of rice papers through the years, but this by far has been one of the flimsiest paper. A simple loaded brush of ink and ink wash caused the paper to buckle so badly that it rendered the picture useless. When I tried to apply paste for mounting a backing paper, the rice paper fell apart. It might be good for calligraphy work but it is not good for painting. I did find that a thicker solution of color and ink did work on the on this rice paper, but only if you refrain from using side strokes. This is like working on 2 ply toilet paper and yes I have painted on toilet paper, it takes a lot of control. This is a very inexpensive rice paper and now I know why. All of the other reviews led me to believe this to be a standard rice paper for painting, but it is not. A better rice paper to paint on is "Art Advantage Rice Paper 100 sheets-Pack" also sold through Amazon. Now that I know the paper's limitation I'll place it on a shelf and see if I can find a use for it. I know I can use it for wrapping. It’s really really smooth to write on with brushes, if you know what you’re doing. It also absorbs ink remarkably fast, so it’s a joy to do japanese or Chinese calligraphy on. Be sure to put something under it, as it will bleed a bit (it’s very thin and delicate). Also, after using it with brushes loaded with lots of ink, be sure to put it under even pressure for a couple hours right after it dries. Otherwise, it will quickly start to warp and crinkle. To avoid warping, I’ve found you have to immediately put it under pressure and leave it for a while (books, lots of paper, boxes, etc.) no complaints, it’s a joy to use after you get used to it’s properties. This very light laid paper is a delight. It makes a crisp fold in all directions and tales ink well on the smooth side. Pencil glides effortlessly.Very good for tracing and practicing lettering by going over and over a Masters example to build muscle memory. I am also going to use it as an inside sheet in hand made paper cards, it will be so nice to write on, even with a ballpoint. AND the price is good value. So many thingsto try with this soft delicious paper. This is a heavier, better-quality paper than I expected. One side is very smooth and shiny. The other is dull and slightly rough. Works well for encaustic embedding.we have not as yet put these to use but looking forward to using ..... the delivery was very fast and product as expected....thank youjudi rocheleau -Gabriola Island,CanadaDisappointed. The size is too small. And the quality is poor. Packaging was terrible. Received torn and bent sheets.Good paper but slow invoy
