There is no sticky on the envelopes, but i didn't mind that as I use sealing wax. It is just good to know before you purchase.in case you were wanting the adhesive. The envelopes open on the short end. I liked that, but also important to know in case you wanted standard closing envelopes. I recommend this set. It is beautiful, sturdy and different.
